Interest is Growing Among People Who Want to Have Elon Musk's Neuralink Microchip Implanted in Their Skulls, As Per Reports

According to a recent Bloomberg report, one of Elon Musk's biographers, Ashlee Vance, said that thousands of people have expressed interest in receiving one of Neuralink's brain implants.

As a result of Vance's frequent visits to Neuralink's facilities over the past three years, he is confident that Neuralink will eventually implant its device in humans. He expects Neuralinks to carry out about 11 surgical operations next year and more than 22,000 by 2030.

A recruitment campaign was launched in September by the company to recruit participants for its first human trial, following the green light from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier this year. Neurolink announced in a blog post that they are looking for people who have been paralyzed in all four limbs as a result of a spinal cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and are interested in participating in the study.

Following the announcement, it has been reported that thousands of people have responded to Neurolink's call and are eagerly waiting to have a portion of their skull removed and to have one of Elon Musk's brain chips implanted in their brains.

Eventually, the company predicts that the technology will be able to develop a device that will not only create a symbiotic relationship between humans and machines, but it will also be able to allow people to send messages using only their thoughts and play games. The company, however, says it hopes to help people with neurological disorders first.

It is estimated that a surgeon will need a few hours to perform the craniectomy and then it will take about 25 minutes for the robot to insert the device along with its ultrathin array of about 64 threads into the skull, according to Vance.

As Vance stated, the device was designed to replace the portion of the skull that had been removed. He added that the threads were about one-fourteenth the width of a single human hair and would substitute the amount of skull tissue removed.
