Halle Bailey’s Locs for The Little Mermaid Movie Cost $150,000

Camille Friend, the hairstylist to American singer and actress Halle Bailey, has revealed that The Little Mermaid star's flowing red locs cost $150,000.

The live-action remake of Disney's animated film The Little Mermaid opened in theatres on May 26 with a $95.5 million box office in North America. The film's lead actress Halle Baily has expressed the need for black representation, including natural black hair, in movies.

Explaining the locs' hefty $150,000 cost, Friend detailed the required process in an interview with Variety and shared that the extensions had to be added, then taken out and redone as they could not reuse the hair.

Friend shared that after meeting Baily’s family, she began to understand why the natural hair element was important to keep for The Little Mermaid character. Due to the length of Bailey’s locs during filming, Friend dismissed the possibility of the 23-year-old wearing a wig and chose to wrap hair extensions around Bailey's natural hair.

According to the hairstylist, this would prevent the dyeing of the actress's locs, which she has had since the age of five, and would not change her internal hair structure.

Ishawna Stuns in Purple-Themed Photoshoot - See Pics

A lover of risky fashion and controversial topics, Ishawna has always gravitated to things that are taboo in nature.

Taking her fashion choices a step further, the Brace It singer uploaded a series of pictures to social media, showcasing her unique fashion sense and stunning figure.

Leaving little to the imagination, Ishawna posted three separate sets of pictures to her Instagram page where she is dressed in a full purple sheer dress made with a thin, frilly type of material. The dress was floor length starting from the neck down and was gathered at the artiste’s sides like a bodycon dress with leftover material to create a wispy look.

The back of the dress was open concept, and a shoulder pad style was added with an extra length of fabric that was left dancing in the wind in some of the pictures, and sometimes covering the entertainer’s face like a veil. The dress was also made in a way to create the effect of loose, flowy sleeves.

Ishawna posed in multiple creative ways in order to capture the essence of the lightweight purple dress which was worn with a thong or bikini bottom underneath, and what seems to be nipple pads.

Posting three separate captions, Ishawna stated, “Nothing like what you’re use to…,” “A beautiful Sun ray mixed with a lil hurricane 🧚🏾‍♀️,” and the third caption was a simple purple heart, “💜.” Her IG comment section lit up with purple heart emojis, along with fire and red heart emojis.

One person wrote, “Always legendary 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” and another complimented, “The purple looks so good on you.”

Dancehall Females With Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries; Queen of the Pack Patra, Shenseea, Diana King and Marion Hall

Among the many spectacular talents that Jamaica's music produced, four dancehall female entertainers have struck big and made it international to gain more than one entry onto one of the biggest music charts in the world; the Billboard Hot 100.

With their different music styles and sounds, Diana King, Patra, Marion Hall, and Shenseea, to date, have the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart for female dancehall artistes from Jamaica.

Marion Hall, formerly Lady Saw, has two entries on the prestigious chart with Smile and Underneath It All. Smile is a 1999 pop song by Vitamin C featuring Marion Hall that made it onto the charts at number 18. She also made it onto the chart a second time at number 3 for her collaboration with No Doubt on Underneath It All. Hall also earned a Grammy Award for the feature in 2004.

Tied at third place for the most songs on the Hot 100 charts for Jamaican females with Marion Hall is Shenseea, with two songs for her features on Kanye West's Donda album. The entries are OK OK Pt. 2, peaking at number 12 on the chart, and Pure Souls, which peaked at number 52. Shenseea became the first female Jamaican artiste in over 17 years to make it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Coming in at number two, Diana King charted with four songs on the charts with Shy Guy (From “Bad Boys”) in 1995, Ain’t Nobody in 1996, and I Say A Little Prayer and L-L-Lies in 1997. The songs peaked at numbers 13, 94, 38, and 71, spending 29, 4, 20, and 15 weeks on the chart respectively.

Topping the list of outstanding female artistes is Patra, with five songs landing on the international chart. She got her first entry onto the charts as a part of Shabba Ranks’ Family Affair (From “Addams Family Values”) at number 84 in 1994. Her second entry came shortly after in the same year with Worker Man, peaking at number 53. Romantic Call by Patra featuring Yo-Yo peaked at number 55 (1994) making three entries onto the chart.

Doing a remake of Grace Jone’s Pull Up To The Bumper, Patra earned her fourth entry at number 60 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (1995). The song also earned her spots on Billboard’s dance chart at number 15 and Billboard’s R&B Chart at number 21.

Rounding out her entries with number five, Patra charted with Scent Of Attraction featuring Aaron Hall at number 82 in 1996.

The list was shared online and Patra acknowledged her top position by stating, "We still topping the charts."

Al Pacino and 29YO Girlfriend Expecting A Baby

American actor Al Pacino is now on to his fourth child at the age of 83. It was revealed that he and his 29-year-old girlfriend, Noor Alfallah, are expecting their first child together. The pregnancy was not planned, according to a report, which also outlined that Pacino was completely surprised by the news.

The pair have been dating for a year, and Noor is currently eight months pregnant. Much like how the baby was kept a secret and perfectly hidden from the public's eye during Noor and Pacino's many outings last month, the sex of the baby is also unknown.

Noor has dated celebrities such as Mick Jagger and billionaire Nicolas Berggruen. As for Pacino's kids, he has his 22-year-old twins Olivia and Anton with actress Beverly D'Angelo and 33-year-old daughter, Julia, with Jan Tarrant.

Other well-known people have given birth to children in their later years, including 73-year-old Richard Gere, who has children ages 2, 4, and 9; Tony Randall, who was 77 when his wife of 26 years gave birth to their first of two children; Larry King, who was 65 when he had his son Chance King and his son Cannon the following year; and Billy Joel, who had his last child at the age of 71.

Vybz Kartel's Lawyer Talks on His "Life-Threatening" Disease and the Need For Surgery Urgently - Watch Report

Dancehall star Vybz Kartel is reported to be in severe health condition allegedly exacerbated by a 23-hour prison lockdown placed on the deejay following the discovery of cellphones within his cell, according to reports.

An exclusive report by Fox 5 New York revealed that the Gaza deejay condition is life-threatening and surgery is required. As per the report, a sworn medical affidavit from Vybz Kartel's private doctor Karen Phillips outlined that Kartel's Graves disease and heart condition are getting worst, and without surgery, "he could die."

Isat Buchanan, who serves as Kartel’s legal representative, sat down for an interview with the North American news channel where he revealed the medical condition of the entertainer and the state of his prison cell. "He is in a cell, and if you can picture a brick oven because that's how those cells are built, the ventilation is next to none," Isat Buchanan argued.

As Buchanan continued the interview, he outlined how Kartel looked when he last saw him on memorial day by stating, "His face is actually swolled and as I said, one a di things he always wear glasses because the condition that he has causes his eyes to protrude."

However, the medical report that Kartel's health was based on in the news story; was done two months ago that they obtained from Kartels private physician Dr Karen Phillips. The medical report details Kartel's seven-year history battling Graves disease, other medical complications and two heart diseases. According to the report, Dr Phillips recommends immediate surgery for Kartel.

In the conclusion of his interview, Isat Buchanan states that his harsh present cell conditions will only deteriorate his health. "We do not want to get a phone call to say because he was under this 24 this 23-hour lockdown and unable to breathe, that he succumbed to his illness," Buchanan declared.

Likkle Vybz, also known as Adidja Jaheim Palmer, was also interviewed by the news channel, he spoke about his father's situation by saying, "It weights on my heart very heavy, and I think about it a lot but, honestly, we just have to stay strong."

Mr. Vegas Questions the Motives of Munga's Attorney After Murder Trial Delay - Watch Video

Mr. Vegas has questioned the reasons behind Munga Honorable's attorney's unavailability for his trial following the announcement that the murder trial for the killing of Vegas's nephew, Cleveland Smith, had been delayed to 2025.

Munga, born Damian Rhoden, and his co-accused, Sheridan Gordon, are currently facing charges for their alleged role in the 2017 murder of Smith. Munga's trial was rescheduled in the Home Circuit Court on Monday for February 17, 2025, due to personal issues hindering his attorney, Christopher Townsend, from proceeding.

Reacting to the lengthy postponement, Mr. Vegas spoke about the ongoing murder case during an Instagram live stream on Wednesday, stating that justice delayed is justice denied. Vegas expressed that he would be choosing his words carefully and keeping his statement brief in order not to fall into a trap he believed Townsend had set for him.

Noting the vagueness of Townsend's reasons for not being currently available, Vegas questioned if a court backlog had contributed to the 2025 postponement or if it was solely because of Townsend's personal issues. Expressing his need for more information, Vegas also questioned if the trial dates for Townsend's other clients, including Jennifer Messado and Noel Maitland, would also be postponed.

According to Mr. Vegas, he has refrained from speaking on the case until now because Townsend falsely accused him of speaking out in the past. The veteran dancehall artiste then posed the question of whether the current postponement of the trial was a tactic to "ware out the witnesses".

Vagas assured the justice system that his family was watching the case keenly.

"In case yuh think that Cleveland Smith was just like a dog or he had no one, or he had no family membas, mi just want yuh now seh mi a one a him family membas. And wi a watch the case keenly," Vegas stated.

Shericka Jackson Shows Off Some Recent Pics, “Like a Movie” - See Photos

Jamaican Olympian and World Champion Shericka Jackson continues to celebrate her recent victory at the 2023 Rabat Diamond League meeting and shared a few photos of her trip.

Jackson competed in her season-opening meet in the Wanda Diamond League in Doha earlier this month with a second-place finish in the 100m with a time of 10.85 seconds. Following her opening meet, Jackson ran to a winning finish in the women's 200m with a time of 21.98 seconds on Sunday in the Moroccan capital.

It shattered the previously held meet record and was a new personal best for Jackson, who is the reigning Diamond League 200m champion.

Still revelling in her latest victory, Jackson shared a photo dump of the meet in Rabat, captioning the photos with “ITS LIKE A MOVIE.”

The photos included her lavender spandex shorts and top worn during the race as well as multiple casual looks worn during her trip.

Referencing lyrics from Vybz Kartel's hit single Like a Movie, one viewer complimented Jackson stating, “Girl you a star the show.”

Portmore Musician Among 2 Arrested in JCF Operations; 3 Guns and More Than 30 Rounds Seized

The Jamaica Constabulary Force made two arrests on Tuesday during operations that resulted in three guns and more than 30 rounds being seized. The arrested suspects include a Portmore musician, who was identified as Barrington Davis.

The 34-year-old musician, who also goes by Jah Sent, was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition following a targeted raid at around 5:00 a.m. at a home in Wallen Avenue, Braeton, St. Catherine.

The operation resulted in the Portmore police discovering one 9mm Taurus pistol with ten 9mm cartridges.

The second suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, was arrested in Westmorland. The individual was arrested in connection with a 9mm pistol that had a magazine containing 16 cartridges and another magazine with five cartridges that were recovered from a house in Black Heath Road, Georges Plain.

In the post made to Instagram, the JCF reported that the Clarendon police also seized one .38 revolver containing six .38 cartridges during an operation in May Pen, but no arrest was made. The firearm was hidden in a white Merino inside a black bag on an open lot on Windsor Avenue.

The report's conclusion urged residents to contact their local police department or Crime Stoppers at 311 if they have knowledge of firearms, gunmen, or gangs.

Khadija Shaw Signs Two-Year Contract Extension with Manchester City W.F.C.

Jamaica Reggae Girlz captain Khadija “Bunny” Shaw has inked a two-year contract extension with English women's football club Manchester City.

Shaw joined Manchester City in June 2021 on an initial three-year contract following the conclusion of her contract with Bordeaux. Shaw netted her 50th goal with Man City on Saturday during the club's end-of-season match against Everton and received City’s Player and Goal of the Season awards.

Saturday's match concluded the 26-year-old’s arguably best season at the club, and City has described her as being in scintillating form. Shaw was dubbed the highest-scoring player across a single season for Man City in March and has scored 31 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions.

Following her performance over the 2022/23 season, the St. Catherine native's contract extension comes as no surprise, and Manchester City and Shaw announced her lengthened stay with the club on Tuesday.

Football fans were first teased with a clip of a rabbit on Instagram, eluding to Shaw's nickname “Bunny”.

The Club has since released multiple promotional photos and videos with the footballer. Speaking on her new two-year extension, Shaw expressed that Manchester was a second home to her and explained that the club was ideal for her future improvement.

“I enjoy the way we play, and I’m at a stage now where I understand the way we play, and I can only get better and grow I think here at City is the perfect place for me. I put all my effort and time on the pitch, and obviously, for the position I play and the quality I have around me, I know I’m going to be in positions to score goals,” Shaw stated.

Head Coach Gareth Taylor praised Shaw's performance during her time before and with the club, and noting that they had only scratched the surface with her, expressed his excitement at developing Shaw further.
