Jamaican sprint darling Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the multiple Olympic and world female sprint champion who is also arguably Jamaica's greatest female athlete of all time, confirmed on Wednesday that she will be participating in the Kip Keino Classic Challenge Tour meet on May 13 in Nairobi, Kenya.
This meet is regarded as a part of her preparation for the upcoming World Championship in Hungary this summer.
One of the notable features of the Kip Keino Classic is that it is the only World Athletics Challenge Tour Gold Label event in Africa.
Having won her 5th World Championship title last year at the Oregon 2022 World Athletics Championships, Fraser-Pryce will be returning to the meet where she started her season with a scintillating 10.67-second run to capture first place last year.

In response to the announcement, the Jamaican sprint icon said in a video released by the organisers of the Kip Keino Classic Challenge Tour, “Yeah, I will be in Nairobi on May 13 for the Kip Keino Classic, and I will be racing over the 100m. Last year was awesome, fantastic, like all those words.”
According to news reports, African and Commonwealth Games champion Ferdinand Omanyala, who won the men's 100-meter race last year over America's Fred Kerley, has also been confirmed to grace the track in the Kip Keino Meet in Nairobi next month.
