With the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup set to begin in June, the Jamaica Reggae Boyz have drawn team USA and Nicaragua in Group A for the tournament's first round.
In terms of team standing, Jamaica currently ranks 63rd in the world, while the Central American nation of Nicaragua is ranked 140th. The Reggae Boyz's largest obstacle will no doubt be coming out ahead of Gold Cup defending champions, the United States, who is ranked 13th.
As there is still one remaining Group A opponent to be determined through the Gold Cup preliminaries, which are set for June 16–20, Jamaica will also face either Curaçao, French Guiana, St. Kitts and Nevis, or Sint Maarten. Tournament groups were drawn on Friday, and eight-time Gold Cup champions Mexico have been drawn into Group B with Haiti, Honduras, and Qatar. Group C will consist of Costa Rica, Panama, and El Salvador, while Canada, Guatemala, and Cuba will comprise Group D.
