The fastest woman over the 100-metre distance in 2023 is now Sha’Carri Richardson after winning the 100m at the Doha Diamond League 2023 in a meeting record time of 10.76. Jamaica's Shericka Jackson was in second place with an impressive time of 10.85.
Several of women's biggest names at the moment in sprinting were involved in the much-anticipated race, notable names were, Jackson, Richardson, Melissa Jefferson, Twanisha Terry, Abby Steiner, Hobbs and Asher-Smith.
Jackson and Richardson ran beside each other in lanes 5 and 6, respectively.
Last month, in Kingston, Jackson ran 10.82 seconds at the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger event MVP Velocity Fest 13, this time has best the fastest time clocked this year.
Following her world-leading 100m race at the MVP Velocity Fest 13, Jamaican Olympian Shericka Jackson is set to face off with Sha’Carri Richardson and Dina Asher-Smith in the 100m at the Wanda Diamond League Seashore Group Doha Meeting on Friday, May 5.
Jackson is the reigning world and Wanda Diamond League 200m champion and secured her first 100m win for the 2023 athletic season with a time of 10.82 seconds at the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger event MVP Velocity Fest 13 on April 22.
