Lasco Founder Lascelles Chin Dies at 86

Last night, in the United States, the Jamaican business tycoon and founder of the LASCO Affiliated Companies, Lascelles Chin, passed away at the age of 86. As executive chairman Chin managed Lasco Manufacturing, Lasco Financial, and Lasco Distribution.



In a report, Lasco Manufacturing's Managing Director James Rawle confirmed Chin was receiving medical treatment in the United States at the time of his passing. Also, a statement will be issued soon, James Rawle outlined.



As early as 1956, this Jamaican entrepreneur ventured into business. In 1958, Chin imported black pepper from Asia and peas from Portugal and the United States. As a result of his success, he became the island's biggest black pepper trader.





Founded in 1988, LASCO Affiliated Companies is a network of companies that consists of three entities which include Lasco Distributors, Lasco Manufacturing, and Lasco Financial and Services. Among Jamaicans Lasco product's affordability and recognizability make them an integral part of the culture.

Although Chin was Born in Bog Walk, St Catherine, he grew up in Kendal, Manchester, and Balaclava, St Elizabeth. As a result of his success in entrepreneurship and philanthropical work, Chin was honoured in 2001 with Jamaica's civilian award, the Order of Jamaica.
