Jamaican social media personality Kizzy Don shared in a recent interview that she believes her popularity has surpassed that of American pop icon Michael Jackson.
Kizzy, born Daniel Banton, is among the growing crop of young Jamaicans reaping the rewards of reaching thousands with their content via social media platforms such as TikTok. In the interview, Kizzy spoke about her career and newfound viral success, sharing how fans react to meeting her on the street.
During her sitdown on The Fix podcast, Kizzy shared that her fans are usually so overwhelmed to see her that some of them even fall prey to hysterics.
"To be honest, when people see me, they scream out. Some of them even roll," Kizzy stated.
When asked by The Fix's Arianne Hammond if her popularity was equal to that of legendary Man in the Mirror singer Michael Jackson, Kizzy expressed that it had surpassed that. Kizzy added that she does not know why, but people tend to love her, and she has always been a star, so she is not very surprised by her fans' reactions.
Though her success online has already begun to change her life, Kizzy, who also hopes of becoming a thriving recording artiste, shared that she and her team are working to take her career to new heights.
Kizzy went on to talk about feuds with other online personalities, such as World Dawg but explained that social media is all about entertainment and that it was nothing personal.
