Khadija "Bunny" Shaw Named CONCACAF Women's Player Of The Year

Arguably Jamaica's best football player across both genders right now, Khadija "Bunny" Shaw, has been named CONCACAF Women's Player Of The Year. The power forward is currently having a record-breaking season with the English-based club Manchester City where she demolished their scoring record for a single campaign.



In a video shared by CONCACAF, Bunny Shaw sat with her award in hand while she gave an interview outlining what the award meant to her. "It's an unbelievable feeling, but I couldn't have done it without my teammates because you know they play a massive part in this." The video was posted with the caption, "Let’s all drop a to congratulate our very own Reggae Girl @bun_bun10 on being awarded the @concacafw 2022 Women’s Player of the Year! 🇯🇲."





The Reggae Girlz captain also shared a photo of herself holding the trophy along with a message on her Instagram page reacting to the achievement. Bunny Shaw wrote, "Happy and grateful to be awarded Concacaf Women’s Player of the Year. Thanks to everyone associated with Concacaf as well as my teammates and staff."

Bunny Shaw is currently the leading scorer in the Woman's Super League (WSL) with 18 goals in 19 games as her club Manchester City sits in second place in the league table. Shaw will also be leading the Reggae Girlz to their second FIFA Women's World Cup later this year in Australia and New Zealand after their historic back-to-back qualification for the showpiece event.
