Jamaican footballer Leon Bailey has been voted Player of the Month for the second time in two months for English club Aston Villa F.C.
Bailey previously secured Player of the Month for his stellar performance in December. Bailey, who recently inked a new deal with Villa, helped Villa kick off February in winning fashion, scoring in their 5-0 win against Shefield United in the Premier League on February 3.
The twenty-six-year-old later secured his second goal of the month while competing against Nottingham Forest, forcing Nottingham to submit to a 4-2 defeat. In addition to his goal, Bailey also provided an assist during the match.
The Reggae Boy has made a total of 37 appearances this season, registering 11 goals. Bailey, who is fondly known as 'Chippy,' was voted player of the month by Aston Villa fans, edging out teammates Ollie Watkins and Douglas Luiz to win by 39%.
Reacting to his latest player of the month win, fans of the footballer congratulated him on Instagram under Aston Villa's announcement post. Craig Butler, Bailey's adopted father and agent, also expressed that he was proud of the player while commenting under Villa's post, which featured a photo of the athlete with his trophy.
“So proud of you little chips,” Butler wrote.
