A video has emerged online showing a large fire at Riverton City Dump. The fire at the disposal site in St. Andrew was blazing for some time.
At the beginning of the video, the raging fire can be seen at sunset. As the video progresses into the night, the fire appears to have expanded but is burning with smaller flames.
Riverton City Dump experiences annual occurrences of both large and small fires, prompting authorities to frequently respond and extinguish the flames.
Multiple fires were recorded last year, and the footage shared on X on Wednesday appears to depict the first fire at the disposal site in 2024.
The footage was shared by social media user Mark Shields at 8:00 p.m. In the caption, he noted, "Large fire. Riverton / Marcus Garvey Drive area. Now."

In response to the post, social media user Astor Tate commented, "Thanks for the reminder. This is a yearly occurrence. Just like the droughts. No government seem to have this as a priority."
Additionally, Our Health Our World remarked, "This is ORCHESTRATED so that contracts can run."
