Taxi Operator Among 2 Chopped to Death in St. Ann for Cow and Goat Theft

Reports are that two men, suspected of stealing livestock were mobbed by angry residents in St. Ann after they were caught in the act of taking away goats and cows in a taxi vehicle.

In a matter that is currently being investigated by the police, it's believed that several men entered Gibraltar, a rural community in the parish, with the intention of stealing livestock.

One of the two vehicles that were being used to carry out the criminal act, a Toyota Voxy developed a mechanical problem causing it to stop. Animal carcasses were seen in the vehicle.

An alarm was raised and the main road in the community was blocked.

The driver, a forty-year-old taxi operator whose name is Oniel Robinson and a labourer name Demar Rose who was thirty years old tried to escape the angry mob but were cut short in their tracks.

It's reported that the two men tried to escape by foot but were captured by residents who carried out jungle justice. The men were later taken to the Alexandria Community Hospital where they were declared dead.

Both deceased men are said to be from the neighbouring parish of Trelawny.

Further reports detailed that a second car which had armed cronies managed to escape the scene.

As reported by the Jamaica Gleaner, the incident took place around 9:34 a.m.

In a video released, someone caught footage of some of the animal carcasses, in the video someone said, "see di cow dem yah inna di bus yah suh dead," another person said, "about 5 cow dem have inna da sitt'n yah."
