Boom Dandimite was laid to rest today, Sunday, July 2 at the Meadowrest Memorial Gardens following a funeral service at the Penwood Road Seventh Day Adventist church in Waterhouse, St Andrew.
The former Scare Dem Crew member was inside a transparent casket, allowing the attendees to see the dancehall artiste in his final state before he was buried. Among those in attendance were members of the dancehall fraternity, such as Harry Toddler, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, General B, Stacious, and DownSound Entertainment CEO Josef "Joe" Bogdanovich and more.
During the service, Harry Toddler reflected on his friendship with Boom Dandimite. "Mi love Dandimite truly," he expressed, adding that the deejay was the "90s boss."
Bogdanovich also spoke at the funeral, sharing that the deceased was one of the artiste who inspired him to make a "firm commitment to Dancehall and Reggae."
Donovan Stewart, also known as Boom Dandimite, passed away due to complications from injuries sustained in a car accident on Half Way Tree Road in St Andrew in late April. Emerging deejay Wilful Skilful was also injured but was later released from the hospital, while Dandimite remained hospitalised.
Dandimite recovered and was discharged from Kingston Public Hospital but later passed away on May 21 while seeking further treatment in the United States.
In the 1990s, Boom Dandimite, Nitty Kutchie, Harry Toddler, and Elephant Man were in a popular group called the Scare Dem Crew. Their successful songs include "Pure Gal" and "Many Many."
On July 21, Boom Dandimite was scheduled to perform at Reggae Sumfest as a member of the Boombox 90s Badness lineup, which also features General B, Harry Toddler, Jigsy King, Mega Banton, Nitty Kutchie, Silver Cat, and Tony Curtis.
