The fastest woman alive over 200m, Shericka Jackson, is scheduled to make her debut for what is set to be a festive 2024 track and field season this weekend at the JAAA's Puma Fuller Anderson development meet at GC Foster College.
Having missed out on her ultimate goal of breaking the 200m world record last season, Jackson will be looking to make amends this year.
Taking part in the women's 60-meter event on Saturday, the triple medalist from last year's World Championships will be putting her skills to the test. She will be up against notable competitors such as Tia and Tina Clayton, Shockoria Wallace, Natasha Morrison, Janice Russell, Serena Cole, Ramona Burchell, Jonielle Smith, Krystal Sloley, and Janeen Brown on the same track.
Sada Williams of Barbados and Anthonique Strachan of the Bahamas, both of whom are part of the same camp as Jackson, will also be in the running for the top spot in the shortest form of sprinting.
Aside from that event, the men's 100 meters looks like it will be one of the most competitive events of the meet, with a stacked list of competitors that includes 2023 World Championships finalist Rohan Watson, Tajay Gayle, Michael Campbell, Shawn-D Thompson, Odaine McPherson, Rusheen McDonald, and Ramone Barnswell.
The other headliner athlete competing in the event is Kishane Thompson, who took the world by storm last year with his outstanding PB of 9.85 seconds and leads the men's field for Jamaican male athletes.
