Amid the backlash he has been receiving after pleading for peace between artistes Jada Kingdom and Stefflon Don, dancehall veteran Sean Paul has responded to critics shunning him for interfering.
For many, the ongoing feud between Jada and Stefflon has been pure delight, with the contention between the women playing out on social media for all to see. As both artistes released their diss tracks in the past few days, some declared the lyrical animosity being exchanged a key factor of dancehall culture.
However, for international dancehall star Sean Paul, it is one of the worst part of it. The deejay took to Instagram on Wednesday to call for peace between the women, imploring them to set a better example for the culture.

But his call for an end to the feud was met with a bombardment of negative comments, with some accusing him of being a hypocrite and not doing the same with male entertainers. In response, Sean Paul shared a video featuring an interview with him discussing his 2021 single, Lion Heart.
The song addressed criticism he was receiving at the time for his statements about not liking clashing. During the interview, Sean Paul expressed that entertainers should focus on making money instead of clashing.

In addition to screenshots of news headlines about the deejay speaking out against clashing, the video also featured another interview with the Get Busy artiste. In the second interview, Sean Paul highlighted the negative effects clashing had on younger artistes, such as creating feuds instead of promoting unity.
Sean Paul further stated that he has always disliked clashing in the post's caption but added that no one was obligated to do what he said.
“NOBODY GOT 2 DO ANYTHING I SAY. JUS A TALK MY TRUTH. I LOVE REGGAE AN DANCEHALL BUT MI NAH MEK THE WORD “CULTURE” HOLD MY MENTALS DOWN,” Sean Paul stated.
