Each year, a new crop of Dancehall artistes emerge onto the musical scene with their own brand of lyrical style to shake up the Dancehall community.
Last year, artistes such as Valiant and Kraff dominated the scene with songs such as 'North Colorinina' and 'Sinna', sending fans into a frenzy. This year has been a different case with multiple newcomers gaining top songs.
For 2023, integrating themselves into the spotlight, newcomers such as Najeeriii and Jquan found a song(s) to break out in the music genre.

Take a look at the top five Dancehall artistes below who had a breakout onto the musical scene this year. This list is in no particular order
Pablo YG
Pablo YG
First on the list is 19-year-old Pablo YG who stepped onto the music scene with a drive to fulfill his vision of being an artiste. He rose to stardom with popular hits such as Bad Juvi, Feelings, Rich N Richer, and Fada Fada. This youngster made his debut on Sting in 2022 and is also Scheduled to be back this year.
He has had collaborations with other Dancehall big names such as Valiant, Skillibeng, 450, and Kraff Gad. His first mixtape, Bad Juvi, was released in July of this year and a few of his most recent singles are BiMA and Business featuring Ishawna.
Najeeriii
Najeeriii
Up next we have another youngster, Najeeriii (17), appeared on the music scene with an explosive relentlessness to have his name known. His distinctive sound took root with the younger Dancehall crowd and blew up on social media, where people even took the time to ‘translate’ his lyrics for those who stated they could not understand what he was saying, as if a class was in session.
Najeeriii’s debut single was Sintrap, and he kept turning out hit after hit without pause. Other popular songs by the artiste are Panton, Paddle Boat, Goon, and Like Bob. A few artistes that he has collaborated with are Skillibeng, RajahWild, and Jquan.

Jquan
This leads us to our third breakout artiste of 2023, Jquan. This Manchester native received his chance at stardom when his viral single Choppa Gospel skyrocketed him to fame as scamming music is currently trendy. The song talks about the reality of being poor and finding a way out by chopping/banging the line, in other words committing fraud.
Jquan has other singles like Chakka, Goliath, All Night, and Bogus. So far, he has had collaborations with Najeeriii on Credits and is said to have an upcoming release featuring Marksman.
Skippa
Skippa
Another artiste on the scene is known as Skippa, who although has been in the game for a while, has recently begun to gain traction this year. He is known for songs such as Aruba, Clues, 4:51, and Bob Ponzi.
He has collaborated with Najeeri and Jahshii and some of his most recent singles are Calling App, Self Belief, and Falling.
Kaka Highflames
Kaka Highflames
Fifth on our list is this rising sensation Kaka Highflames who decided to take his shot at creating his own music after his dance moves made way for other artistes to make waves with songs. Kaka is known for being a part of the popular dancing song/video Bounce by Ding Dong, and his own Teach Dem, Ackee Walk, and Flamez Rock.
Social media and fans have dubbed him ‘the new Ding Dong’ because of the direction of his music, his target audience, and his viral dance moves. Recent singles by Kaka Highflames are Jet, Eenie Meenie, and Chaarge.
