Many Jamaicans Don't Believe PM Holness' 'Security Threat'

After the reported 'bomb threat' at Prime Minister Holness' home in St. Andrew on Wednesday, some Jamaicans are concerned for the country's leader, however, based on online comments, most people don't believe the news and are playing it down, saying that it came at a convenient time.

Hours before the threat reports, news surfaced that Holness had gained a substantial amount of wealth, $51 Million, in the past 5 years. News also broke recently that he was connected to several bank accounts that he did not declare.

Holness who is often times referred to as 'Bro Gad' locally stated that some of the bank accounts seemingly were opened by his parents with his name added, he also stated "I am satisfied with the ruling by the Director of Corruption Prosecution, who found Insufficient evidence that I omitted bank accounts from my declarations."

Circulating videos show a large police presence outside Holness' house in Beverly Hills Wednesday night, leading to rumours that there was a raid. While the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has provided an update on the "threat" incident, Holness is yet to provide details or reaction.

The statement from the JCF reads, "The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is aware of reports currently circulating on social media, alleging that a police raid is underway at the private residence of Prime Minister, Dr The Most Honourable Andrew Holness. We categorically state that these reports are false."

"There is, however, an active police presence in the surrounding community and vicinity of the Prime Minister’s residence. This deployment was initiated in response to credible intelligence gathered by the JCF, indicating a legitimate security threat to the Prime Minister and his household."

"The swift and effective action by our officers successfully repelled this threat, and we continue to maintain a presence at the location in line with standard security protocols. The JCF remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, particularly in moments where intelligence suggests heightened risks."

It concluded, "We urge members of the public to refrain from sharing unverified information, and to stay informed through official JCF channels." This report was published Tuesday night.

Concerned about the Prime Minister, one person reacted to the post on Instagram with the comment, "Let’s do everything to protect him and his family. With this rising tension in the society,I can only urge that we keep the peace."

Another person said, "We need to know what exactly was the threat and who made it. What we will not have is anyone trying to harm our leader."

On the other hand, many Jamaicans have responded to the statement from the JCF with rejection, one person commented, "Dem so hungry fe power that they will do anything. These people are a menace to society .."

Another person said, "Anju learn from the Best @ Donald Trump trying to change the Agenda 😂😂😂 Anju how the taxes guh."

Another person simply, said, "DISTRACTION."
