Donna-Lee's Mother Shares "birthday card Noel give Donna two days before her disappearance"

Donna-Lee's Mother Shares

In a poignant moment of grief and desperation, Sophia Lugg, the mother of the missing social media influencer Donna-Lee Donaldson, shared a message on social media on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. In the message, she disclosed a birthday card that Noel Maitland, the prime suspect in her daughter's disappearance, had given Donna-Lee merely two days before she vanished.

The content of the card, expressing Maitland's reliance on Donna-Lee as his "strength and backbone," starkly contrasts with the grim reality of her absence. Lugg's emotional message highlighted her profound anguish and the elusive quest for answers, epitomized by her calling out Maitland's silence on the matter, labelling it as an unbearable burden.

In her emotional post made on Facebook, Lugg wrote, "A beautiful day to y'all, i was going through my baby girl things, when i saw this birthday card Noel give Donna two days before her disappearance, how can people heartless cold n wicked suh???"

She continues, "People read the words he wrote in that card to my daughter about she being his strength n backbone??? and Noel is the only man left standing to tell me what really happened to my child, but refused to do so, how u do it Janhcrow?? mi just tired, my energy is drained right now😭😭😭😭😭, it is just a hard pill to swallow."

The case has garnered significant attention, especially considering the latest developments reported by the defence team a few months ago. According to Christopher Townsend, the defense attorney for Constable Noel Maitland, a credit card belonging to 24-year-old Donna-Lee was recently used in Portland, specifically at a hotel.

This new piece of evidence adds a complex layer to the ongoing investigation. Noel Maitland is slated to stand trial for the murder of Donna-Lee Donaldson, with proceedings set to commence on April 7, 2025. The legal community and the public eye are keenly focused on this trial, which is expected to unravel over eight weeks.

The backstory is as tragic as it is mystifying; Donaldson disappeared on July 13, 2022, with the last known sighting being at Maitland's residence. Subsequent to her disappearance, a thorough investigation led to Maitland's arrest and charge of murder by the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Unit (CTOC).

The case is laden with sorrow and intrigue, not least because of the suspected grim fate of Donaldson's body, which remains unfound. The charges against Maitland not only encompass murder but also the obstruction of the lawful burial of a corpse, hinting at the heinous nature of the alleged crime.

As the trial date approaches, the community, especially those following the case closely, anticipates answers and justice for Donna-Lee. Her mother's plea on social media is a stark reminder of the personal tragedy behind the headlines, a call for truth and accountability in the face of unbearable loss.
