Dancehall legend Rexton Ralston Fernando Gordon, more popularly known as Shabba Ranks, is one of dancehall’s legends and was one of the stalwarts of his time.

He recently sat down with leader of the opposition Andrew Holness to discuss matters or Jamaica and music.

They spoke about the importance of Dancehall music and how much a dance itself assists with the day-to-day lives of Jamaicans as one single dance provides income for more than 50 people in a single night, this in turn is used to feed families.

In this sit down he mentioned that a lot of great artists have emulated him and have followed in his footsteps to get to the top where they are, he said one such artist is Bounty Killer.

Mr Holness proceeded to ask Shabba his thoughts about Vybz Kartel and him being the best lyricist that Jamaica has seen, Shabba responded by saying that Professor Nuts is the best lyricist and that Vybz Kartel’s lyrics are still at a high school stage.

Shabba Ranks has a lot to do with how Dancehall had evolved and where it is this day, he is a foundation man who has contributed and gained a lot from the music industry.
