The St. Andrew Central police are currently investigating the fatal shooting of a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) during a robbery.
The shooting occurred on Friday night at a Texaco gas station located at the intersection of East and Beechwood Avenues in St Andrew.
Reports state that five armed men accosted the male and female attendants at the gas station and also robbed the cashier inside the business establishment.
In security footage recorded at the scene of the incident, one of the armed men can be seen emptying the pockets of two of the attendants at the pump.
It was at this time that off-duty Corporal Christopher Smith unwittingly drove into the gas station during the active robbery.

The armed robber then approached Smith's vehicle and opened his front door.
According to the Jamaica Gleaner, the assailant opened fire on the policeman after seeing his firearm.
The robber then relieved Smith of his weapon before he and the other assailants escaped in a vehicle said to resemble a taxi.
The forty-seven-year-old corporal, who was a member of the Kingston West Division of the JCF, later died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
