Jamal Compares Himself to Marcus Garvey, Says His Skin Bleaching Was Inspired by Vybz Kartel

Despite the continued backlash, Dancehall artiste Jamal continues to proudly claim ownership of the phrase "fully dunce" and likened himself to National Hero Marcus Garvey in a new interview.

Speaking with entertainment journalist Anthony Miller, Jamal explained that the rise in popularity of his phrase signifies a shift in time.

"Things and times change. Yuh see if yuh listen to the music back den most man a sing bout Selassie and dung by di riva. Nuh body nah guh dung a riva again. Pipe run in a dem house," Jamal said.

Jamal said that his controversial slang was coined in 2012 and it has since grown into a "food basket" that has provided an income for many. However, Jamal said that there is only one "dunce man," and that is him, so he will be taking action against those who have stolen from him.

He went on to compare himself to Marcus Garvey, citing this as the reason why people are fighting against him.

"We a fi di people… Suh me end up get blame and some lickle ting… But di fully dunce ting now a fi wake dem up. Me grow up in a gyaltegobay, and me observe an si wull heep a ting. Free dem up, suh dem can express themself more," Jamal said.

Speaking on the business of music and why deejays chose to sing about scamming and other illegal activities, Jamal expressed that he is simply catering to the wants of his customers/listeners. Jamal briefly spoke on another controversial topic, skin bleaching, and shared that he chose to do it because of Kartel.

"Kartel a mi artiste man… Yah fi bay looks man. Looks sell to enuh," Jamal said in response to if bleaching had gone out of style.

Vybz Kartel Explains Why Popcaan Was Shaded by Likkle Addi:

In his latest interview, Vybz Kartel told Keyshia Ka'oir that some members of the Gaza Empire camp turned their backs on him after he was incarcerated. According to the deejay, his family was the ones mainly on his side,

Bounty Killer's 'Benz & Bimma' Marks 28th Anniversary in 2024

Bounty Killer's 'Benz & Bimma' Marks 28th Anniversary in 2024

Bounty Killer is known for the many hits he has released throughout his over three-decade-long career, and one of his most notable hits, Benz & Bimma, celebrates the 28th anniversary of its release this year.

In 1996, Bounty Killer, born Rodney Price, would release one of his most memorable bodies of work, My Xperience. In addition to songs such as Hip-Hopera featuring the Fugees and Living Dangerously featuring Barrington Levy, Benz & Bimma was one of the featured tracks on the album.

Benz & Bimma utilises an interesting 1960s song, Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh (A Letter from Camp), as a sample. Created by American musician and satirist Allan Sherman, Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh is vastly different in its themes than Benz & Bimma.

However, Bounty cleverly uses Sherman's flow pattern for his chorus, which makes for an unexpectedly interesting pairing with Dancehall.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLKcfmf4GS4

While Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh recites the memories of a young boy, Benz & Bimma delves into the mindset of a lustful man completely captivated by the physical appearance of women. On the track, Bounty compares the physique of women and the allure that it creates to the desirability of luxury cars such as the Mercedes Benz, Lexus, and BMW (Bimmer).

"Gal dem have di face. Gal dem have the figure. Remind me of the Benz, the Lexus, and the Bimmer. To have this girl would be my pleasure. She is so precious like the gold inna mi treasure," Bounty deejays on the track.

Released, in black and white, the music video for 'Benz & Bimma' is iconic in Dancehall. It features several eye-catching video vixens and luxurious cars. Scenes from the visual show the deejay, in a bar, in the streets and also performing at an event

Shenseea Says She Has to Date a Man for 10 Years Before Marriage

Shenseea Says She Has to Date a Man for 10 Years Before Marriage

While she prefers to keep her personal life as private as possible, Dancehall artiste Shenseea shared in a new interview that she would have to date a man for a decade before marrying him.

Prior to having her son and only child, Rajeiro Lee, Shenseea and his father, Rob, were in a relationship for some time before calling it quits. While the singer has never spoken much about her past relationship, it has always been evident that it did not end well, something Shenseea hinted at again during her interview.

While speaking with Bobbi Althoff, Shenseea shared that she does not think you can find the right person to have a child with because people, like Rob, changed after the birth of their son.

"I don't think your gono ever find the right person to have kids with because people change after you give birth. I know from experience. Like my child's father and I were really close like twins. Until we had a kid it went opposite," Shenseea stated.

The Work Me Out singer further expressed that while she initially thought five years was enough to get to know someone before marriage, she now believes ten years would be best.

"Before I was like, maybe I should date the person for like five years. Be in a relationship with them for like five years, girlfriend and boyfriend, and then I get engaged. But I'm thinking like eight to ten years. Let's see if we can do a decade before we get married," Shenseea said.

Some viewers of the video agreed with the artiste, while others thought ten years was far too long.

"There is no time frame to get married. Whenever you feel like the time is right then just do it. Plus i agree on men change after a kid comes into the frame," one fan wrote.

Another stated, "She’s not wrong and when a man get uh front dem Nuh wah ntg else dem cut gone."

Sir P Bashes Usain Bolt: "He was playing with fire and got burn"

Sir P Bashes Usain Bolt:

Usain Bolt has been making posts relating to the fraud at SSL (Stocks and Securities Limited) which caused him to lose millions in USD. On the heels of his latest tweet, popular Jamaican vlogger Sir P has called out the former sprinter in his latest video.

"The machine chop Usain... The people dem who chop Usain gwaan like them not even know him now... same people him a rub shoulder with, skin teeth with." The vlogger went on to highlight a company that was set up in St. Lucia for Bolt, a plan which ultimately backfired.

According to Sir P, if Usain Bolt was to "come out and" detail the happenings that took place behind the scenes, he would look less innocent.

"The same thing them did a gas him up and tell him seh... that's why so much people now a scratch dem head a wonda weh the money gone.... he was playing with fire and got burn... the goat is now walking around looking like poor thing... what he's up against is systemic... not no one man."

Sir P later highlights that Usain Bolt has had a lot of fun since becoming popular, while the "nerds" have been behind the scenes organising to pull off big serious moves like what was done to him.

Last Thursday, Bolt took to X(formerly Twitter) and stated, “Heart broken so many words unspoken,” along with a clock emoji, in a tweet on X. He followed up shortly after, stating, “Broken words not broken records.”

"Listen when usain talk, him sound like him nuh know who rob him... " This statement comes from Sir P a day after an article was published with Bolt's attorney stating that Usain Bolt is still unaware who took the money and when he will be repaid.

"Usain Bolt knows everything," according to the Youtuber Usain Bolt "knows exactly who rob him," outlining that the popular Jamaican is refusing to go head-on with the people who robbed him, "him nuh wah guh head on wid the machine," Sir P said.

"Dem put him inna dress.." Sir P said at one point, recalling the video of Usain Bolt wearing a dress years ago in a commercial. The vlogger later expresses that Usain Bolt has avoided everything political and social but in return gets "humiliated and robbed".

"He should be the person most safe to the machine because he never challenges the machine... money don't buy you what them people deh have." "A chop dem chop yuh bro," said Sir P.

Rarely Jamaicans call out or even publicly bash Usain Bol, hence these statements from the controversial vlogger have been attracting divided options online. Bolt is a fan and friend of Vybz Kartel, notably, almost every one of notoriety that's associated with Vybz Kartel has been bashed by the YouTuber on the platform over the years.

JCF Revisiting Case After Man Shares Story of Sexual Abuse

JCF Revisiting Case After Man Shares Story of Sexual Abuse

The Jamaican Constabulary Force (JCF) is now revisiting an old sexual assault case after the alleged victim threatened to take justice into his own hands years after it was initially reported.

The victim, Michael 'Cornerstone Boss' Reid, has shared his story on multiple occasions as he continues to suffer from the trauma. On October 1, Reid made what appeared to be his final outcry as he expressed that he was tired of waiting for the authorities to bring his alleged abuser, Alfred 'Martin' Buchanan, to justice.

Calling out the JCF and multiple police departments, Reid shared in an Instagram video that Buchanan brought him to the Orange Bay Estate and molested him when he was 14 years old. Despite being instructed to remain silent, Reid said he told his family as well as people in his community, but he was only mocked.

"Mi report it to everybody. Mi tell di people dem in a mi community and dem laugh off a mi and dem mock mi CDA en up hear bout it and CDA send fi mi and send mi guh weh a homes. Mi gah court one time in a January 2015 and all dem do a send mi guh weh a homes," Reid stated.
The father of two further shared that a decade after he was assaulted there is no further developments in his case despite trying to seek help from multiple groups.

"Mi could a kill him miself. Mi could a murda him miself and mi seh no, mi want do it di law way. Because dem seh yow fi do tings by the law. Mi try fi seek help from Jamaica For Justice, mi try fi seek help from all kind a people fi get justice becaw it a affect mi," Reid said.

He went on to suggest that he will not allow his trauma to go unavenged, and the authorities will either have to come for him or his abuser. After stating that he had given the police enough time with his case, he threatened that Buchanan's time was very near.

Reid went on to share photographs of Buchanan, stating in the post's caption that initially, after speaking out about the alleged assault, he was told to stay quiet by his father. Adding that he was in too much pain to stay quiet, Reid said that his trauma has been overlooked since his assault.

However, in his latest update, Reid shared that he has been to the Lucea Police Department, and the authorities are currently revisiting his case. He also thanked his viewers for their support and offered a word of encouragement to other sexual assault victims.

However, according to Reid, he has been receiving threats. He had previously expressed that his posts may be the death of his father, mother, and other relatives.

Usain Bolt Says He's "Heart broken"

Usain Bolt Says He's

The usually upbeat and jovial Usain Bolt has been showing sadness since the start of the week, taking to social media on several occasions to make cryptic statements.

While the issue at hand with SSL is known, Bolt's mysterious statements seem to be pointing at others that he wish to not mention by name. "They banking on the country youth love for his country.. but ask yourself do they love their country or themselves," he asked in a statement made on September 30.

The retired sprinter followed up on Thursday with more statements, first, he wrote, "Heart broken so many words unspoken," along with a clock emoji, in a tweet on X. He followed up shortly after, stating, "Broken words not broken records."

This series of tweets from Bolt since October is a reminder that he remains upset about losing millions. As announced in early 2023, Bolt and other investors fell victim to the investment fraud at SSL (Stocks and Securities Limited).

As per reports, the trusted institution was steeped in a fraud scheme that was later revealed to surpass USD$30M.

Bolt's statements on the matter come on the heels of "fake news" circulating online that SSL victims including the 38-year-old will be compensated.

To date, Bolt is unsure when or if he will recover his US$12.7 million, he is also unsure of who took his money. The matter is being investigated and will heard again in court later this month.

Interview: Sandra Rose Talks Viral Photos With Vybz Kartel, Collab With Shawn Storm, Difficulties As A Female Artiste, And More

Model-turned-recording artiste Sandra Rose recently caught the attention of tons of Dancehall fans around the world, after a few photos of her and Vybz Kartel hit the internet.

It was a dream come true for the entertainer whose music career is just about nine months old to meet the ‘Teacha’ who was released from prison just two months ago, making him a hot commodity.

Sandra who celebrated her 26th birthday on October 3 had a detailed chat with Yardhype where she explained her viral moments with both Kartel and Shawn Storm, and what she has been cooking up with the latter; especially since they became friends while he too was in prison.

“It was my first time meeting Vybz Kartel in person. It was very nice; great energy, very motivational, positive spirit, you know?” she states. “I had a performance at Jangas (in Kingston), and it was my very first performance there and I asked my friend(Pinkii) to come with me. She came with me, and I guess Pinkii was telling ‘Teacha’ that, like, I'm there performing. She told him that I was the same one that did the Shawn Storm TV interview. So he was like, ‘oh yeah? Say no more. Forward to the hotel after. Let’s chill and hold a vibes.’ That’s how I got introduced to him,” she added.

Sandra Rose and Vybz Kartel

Those who have seen the photos of Rose and the ‘Worl’ Boss’ can agree that they do look really cosy. When quizzed about the closeness of their relationship, the singer insisted that it was purely platonic.

“It’s all good vibes and positive energy. Ntn like dat! One Teacha…’’she said adding that her “greatest achievement” would be to collaborate with Vybz Kartel.

Sandra Rose

As it relates to Shawn Storm, Rose was meeting an internet friend in person, at last. They too have snapped some photos together that have hit the net. Earlier this year, they teamed up on the track 'Luxury Dolly' and are already back in the recording booth cooking up new projects.

'Luxury Dolly' was produced by Kwashawna Records & Smokeshop Studios.

“People love Luxury Dolly, but you know, it didn't get the promo it deserved. That's why we're gonna start promo, start a proper promo again,” she said.

As a young, beautiful, talented female performer, there have been many stories about the challenges that come with the role. Rose said that it has been no different for her. She has had to be extremely careful not to fall into certain traps as she manoeuvres a strictly professional career.

“Sometimes. people will approach me on a music vibe, but they don't really want the music vibe, you know? They just use that to get my attention, and then try something else. And then when I decline that, it's like, oh, everything is out the window,” she shared.

Added Rose, “I just decided to just keep myself more exclusive now. I don't work with just any and everybody besides my little team.”

She however said that she is not opposed to working with talents who are serious about their craft, but will continue to be strategic about how she goes about things.

Sandra Rose

In the meantime, Rose noted that she welcomes the shift that has been occurring in Dancehall, but believes there is a shortage in songs that cater to the ladies.

“Nothing ever stays the same, you know? It’s just evolving into its own thing. But, I feel like I like the way Dancehall is right now. The only thing I would suggest is more, you know, more of a female music, so we the girls can dance and be happy to them again,” she said.

As a full-time artiste back and forth between Jamaica and Canada, the singer said she is here to stay. After all, music comes so easily to her.

She said she will be flying to Dubai in the coming weeks, or months to shoot a music video for a track aptly titled 'Fly Me To Dubai.'

Her, next song titled 'Street Luv' will be released on October 5th featuring French Guyanese artiste ‘Sikem’

Footage surfaced Thursday via Prism Marketing, showing Bounty and Richie Stephens handing over a US $10,000 cheque to Stitichie's wife Sophia Laing. While accepting the donation, Mrs. Laing talked about the popular entertainer's current health situation and also hit back at the death rumours circulating online.

"I thank you on behalf of my family... We know this is going to go a mighty long way," she said. After making that statement, she was reassured by Bounty Killer and Richie Stephens that there will be more donations because other potential donors are interested in sending funds to help the situation.

The donations to the gospel Dancehall/Reggae singer were made possible by multiple persons, Bounty Killer(Bounty Foundation), Shaggy, Paul “Bankey” Giscombe and seemingly Richie Stephens were key players in the endeavour.

However, as she promotes the new fits, she is also using the occasion to answer her many critics who believe she should not be displaying her body online like she has been doing.

Notably, D’Angel has been the main model for the lingerie line, oftentimes sharing revealing photos on social media.

On the first day of October, she returned to promo mode, sharing a few eye-catching images with the caption, "Rocking a two piece fit from my lingerie collection 👙 Dm for orders 🛍 Also available in Black🖤 it's a new season for self love and self care as a GOOD GOOD GYAL🥰 @xposedbydangel."

She wrote, "As a MOTHER & a WOMAN who represents BODY CONFIDENCE and a former model "that will never retire by the way,"😂 I've decided to launch my very own LINGERIE COLLECTION, which embodied my motto "BEAUTY IS CONFIDENCE."

"I've come to realize that each time I'm promoting my business my own people is ready to discrimate ain't Rihanna, Beyonce and a whole host of mothers in music and business doing lingerie and so much more that ya'll quick to praise and support? I'm saying this to say people will never support their own kind or want to see you win."

Usain Bolt Makes More Mysterious Statements

Usain Bolt Makes More Mysterious Statements

Usain Bolt took to social media on Wednesday, sharing multiple cryptic messages that have fans guessing and speculating.

These posts are the latest in a series of cryptic posts the former sprinter has been making since Monday.

Today, Bolt's message shared on his Instagram page questioned if he can trust an unnamed group to inform him about something. He also asked about being in the circle of special individuals.

"Can we BANK on them to tell us? Or we not in the circle? #CountryYute 🕥," Bolt Wrote.

As he has not yet recouped his missing funds from the Stocks and Securities Limited's (SSL) scandal, Bolt's cryptic messages have left fans speculating that he is vaguely expressing his feelings about the unresolved fraud scheme.

"I don’t know why you just don’t speak it up, can a man not speak his mind? Say exactly what you’re trying to say, furthermore, I don’t know why you didn’t say anything from the very start of the SSL Saga," one Instagram user wrote.

"Keep your foot on their necks. Don’t let up until you get what is rightfully yours," another stated.

One supporter added, "Bolt my icon, our national treasure, I feel your pain. You have done so much for your country and your own countrymen betrayed you. Sad, and it pains my heart for you and the other investors, knowing you were robbed by red eye Jamaicans. It is just despicable on so many levels."

On the other hand, on X, Bolt wrote, "Them know the price of everything but of nothing," along with a clock emoji.

Leon Bailey in Aston Villa's 1-0 Win vs. Bayern Munich in Champions League

Leon Bailey in Aston Villa's 1-0 Win vs. Bayern Munich in Champions League

Reggae Boy Leon Bailey made his first appearance for Aston Villa in the Champions League on Wednesday vs Bayern Munich, in a match that ended 1-0. The Jamaican did not start the match, he went on for the injured Jacob Ramsey in the 27th minute.

The first half of the match saw the German team dominating most of the possession of the ball, however, both teams were similar with regards to chances created with Villa getting the ball in the back of the net at one instance which was later ruled offside.

Surprisingly, Bailey, 27, who was brought on in the first half was later substituted in the 59th minute, he did not seem to be carrying an injury, never the less he recently returned from injury and is seemingly not fully fit.

The second half, for the most part, was much like the first half with both teams threatening but unable to score until about 12 minutes before the 90th. Villa Park stadium came alive after the deadlock was broken in the 79th minute by Jhon Durán.

Aston Villa's last match in the tournament also ended in victory, against BSC Young Boys.

This was Bailey's second appearance in the Champions League, his debut was several years ago with Bayer Leverkusen in February of 2017, that match ended in a 2–2 draw against Atlético Madrid.

Diddy Defended by Former Female Party Attendee

Diddy Defended by Former Female Party Attendee

While many women are speaking out against incarcerated rapper and music mogul Diddy, one of his reported female party attendees has spoken out in his defence.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs was arrested last month amid a slew of lawsuits and sexual assault accusations. Several attendees of his once-famous parties have shared their stories, with a former female attendee bashing the women who have spoken out against him.

The woman said that the women who are now accusing Diddy were all aware of what they were getting themselves into. She added that they gladly went along with it because of what they received in return but were eventually cut off.

"You bches knew what the fk y'all was getting yourselves into. Y'all had a ball. You took pictures y'all posted and then for whatever reason now you b**ches want some money. Whether it be because he cut you off, whether it be because he's not hitting you up no more," the female Diddy party attendee stated.

Criticising the term "freak off" that has been used to describe Diddy's parties, she said they are no different than the extravagant, crazy adult parties that are thrown by other rich men. According to the woman, the rapper is being targeted because he is black.

"Stop calling them freak-offs; they're rich people's parties All types of rich white men do this shit all the time. But because Diddy is black and of high status, of course he's not allowed to do the same thing that rich white men do. He's not allowed to indulge in the same behaviour, party, lifestyle, etc. that rich white men do," the woman said.

She further stated that Diddy is being "shitted on" not only by the authorities but by the black community. She also criticised the black community for mocking the disgraced mogul at a time when he needs their support the most.

"It could be y'all tomorrow, and y'all are laughing and making a mockery as if he doesn't need our support. As if it doesn't matter. This matters."

Interview: Papie Keelo Talks New EP, Working with Shawn Storm, Pioneering Trap Dancehall and More

Interview: Papie Keelo Talks New EP, Working with Shawn Storm, Pioneering Trap Dancehall and More

For almost a decade, Dancehall artiste Papie Keelo has been making a name for himself through catchy songs, as well as music videos that coincide with the culture and everyday reality. His tenure in what looks to be a long-term career has also involved him working with notable act Shawn Storm, as well as setting trends which have spread like wildfire throughout the Jamaican music industry.

Yardhype conducted an interview with the deejay to gain more insight into this talent, as well as matters associated with his promising career. To begin, we inquired about the sustainable connection which exists between Papie Keelo and Shawn Storm who most recently collaborated on the track 'Faith'. The single forms part of Papie Keelo’s debut body of work— “Super Bold EP Vol. 1”.

“The connection with Shawn Storm was there long time,” Papie Keelo said. “Growing up, I was a Gaza Fan. Vybz Kartel is like my idol, so, growing up, I used to only listen to Vybz Kartel. When they had ‘Street Vybz’ I used to go there to see them and party in the club where they were at and tried to connect myself as an artiste, who was still a fan, at the time.”

The entertainer went on to explain that during those nostalgic Street Vybz Thursday stagings, he would only greet Vybz Kartel, Shawn Storm, and the other members of the Gaza clan. There wasn’t much room for lengthy conversations. However, eventually Papie Keelo landed a collaboration with Shawn Storm, and have since worked together several times.

“It’s a real feeling to know you’ve been listening to these people on the radio as a young person, and then you finally get the chance to collab with them on one track. That’s bad!” he told Yardhype.

Fortunately for Papie Keelo, the freshly released deejay is a part of his EP— a dream come true. As for the entire body of work, he noted that the ‘streets’ have been giving nods of approval.

“It’s a good vibe because everybody has been playing it, purchasing… I’m getting a lot of interviews. So, we have a lot going on,” he said.

Adding that he is the full package in Dancehall, Papie Keelo reasoned that he doesn’t mind the evolution of the genre, and believes others should embrace the changes, as well. He also said that he is confident that he would be able to perform any variation of Dancehall.

Papie Keelo

“Dancehall before, and Dancehall nowadays is a good vibe. Yuh cyaa try tek everything for yourself. Whether it’s Trap Dancehall or the original vibe… people still party and people still enjoy it. So, I wouldn’t compare myself to first time Dancehall. I’m still young enuh, so the root of Dancehall would match me. Any form of Dancehall match me,” he detailed.

In the same breath, the deejay said that he popularised trap Dancehall in Jamaica almost a decade ago, however, he has not been given due credit.

“When mi drop mi first trap style song, and go to Uptown Monday, people used to cuss… the selector and say that’s a Hip Hop vibe. But, I knew exactly what I was doing. I was just trying to create something fresh. Many people say that they created trap music, but that’s a lie because I’ve been here doing that before many of them even existed. Many of them who say they are trap artistes took my image,” he emphasised.

Check out his latest Trap Dancehall endeavour, a song titled 'NY' off his EP below.

Despite the hurdles, Papie Keelo still hopes to team up with Vybz Kartel, Travis Scott and Offset.

In the meantime, the deejay is encouraging emerging acts to remain persistent in pursuing their musical dreams.

“Don’t get tricked by the capping lifestyle, and the lies that a lot of artistes tell. Don’t follow or believe in that. Just keep writing music and believe in yourself. Try work on your craft to get better. You can be the best in the world, you know? Don’t think less of yourself just because another person ‘reach’. Most of who you think ‘reach’ don’t even reach anywhere,” Keelo said.
