Spookie (real name Jason White) scored a handful of hits on the UK dancehall scene with songs including Hurt it Up, Nah Sell Out, Nuh Try Test and Nuh Fault Wid Yuh. The artiste is quite upbeat about his upcoming performance on what is dubbed the Greatest One Night Reggae Show on Earth.
‘It is a great feeling to be in the lineup for Sting as I have wished devoutly since the start of my career to be on The Greatest One Night Reggae and Dancehall Show On Earth! It gives me a sense of great achievement. It signifies that I am doing something right and that people are supportive of my career and the fans like what I doing’, Spookie stated in a media release.
Spookie has been a fan of Sting for years and shared what the standout moment has been for him.
‘What stands out is that the show has some of the greatest legends and performers over the years such as Bounty Killa, Vybz Kartel, Ninja Man and many more. It also gives artiste like myself, a chance to shine and show the world and the fans my dynamic style, my lyrics and my versatility in dancehall music’, he explained.
He said fans can expect a great performance and delivery from him on the Sting stage on Boxing Day.
Reflecting on his achievements in 2015, he said the success has been a bit of a life changing experience for him.
‘It has been life changing in terms of recognition through my music, progressive as I have made great progress and now recording for major record labels and production houses’.
He added ‘My high points this year has been getting immense feedback and support from selectors and fans all over the world about my music and my attire. Working with some of the biggest producers such as Mini E5 records, DJ Frass, TJ Records and Jay Crazie among others has been a good look’.
Spookie grew up in the Tower Hill community of Kingston before relocating to England a few years ago. A former student of Mount Carmel Academy, he recorded Hurt it Up (Braintear Music) a year ago which eventually became a club hit stateside and on the dancehall scene in Jamaica.
The success of Hurt it Up opened many doors for him and saw the artiste performing on stages in Jamaica, the Caribbean and North America.
He has a number of new singles to be released in December going into 2016.
