Mystery spinner, Trinidad and Tobago’s Sunil Narine is out of the West Indies team for next month’s ICC World Cup, according to a tweet from former West Indies Players Association president, Dinanath Ramnarine.
In the tweet which went viral on social media yesterday, Ramnarine, a usually reliable source on West Indies cricket matters, claimed that Narine’s withdrawal is based on the Trinidadian’s desire to continue to work on his bowling action.
“Okay guys, it’s Sunil Narine. He will be out of the WC 2015. I wish Sunil all d best as he continues to work very hard on his bowling issues,” Ramnarine tweeted yesterday.
“For the record, Sunil has not been reported!!!,” he explained.
In September last year, Narine, widely regarded as one of the best spinners in the world, was reported for a suspect action at the sixth Champions League Twenty20 tournament, while representing Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He was subsequently barred from bowling in the final against Chennai Super Kings.
Narine, later the same month, opted to stay away from international cricket, preferring to continue work on his bowling action. He missed the aborted India tour.
Narine was selected earlier this month in the West Indies 15-man squad for the 2015 ICC World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by Australia and New Zealand, February 14 to March 29.

The 26-year-old Trinidadian then took part in the just-concluded WICB NAGICO Insurance Super50 tournament in Trinidad where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker.
In the final on Sunday, Narine ran rings around the Guyana Jaguars, bagging six wickets for nine runs.
In 52 one-day international appearances, Narine has taken 73 wickets at 26.49 a piece.
