Luke Samuels Looking to Make His Dream of Representing Jamaica in "Curling" at The Winter Olympics a Reality

Luke Samuels, a 38-year-old father of three who hails from Edinburgh, United Kingdom has always dreamed of one day representing Jamaica as an athlete and is looking to do just that at the upcoming Italy 2026 Winter Olympics.

Despite only taking up curling a year ago, Luke Samuels reveals his dream of being selected to represent Jamaica at the 2026 Italy Winter Games in the sport he is passionate about in a recent interview.

As he proclaimed his patriotism for Jamaica through his late grandad Edwin Luther Samuels, Luke also expressed his strong connection to Jamaica. Jamaica is highly regarded for its dominance in track and field events but not for other disciplines, and Samuels is looking to change that.

As a child, Luke dreamed of representing Jamaica. He holds dual citizenship in the UK and Jamaica. In 1948, his grandad was one of the first immigrants to travel to the UK in the Windrush era.

“My grandfather Edwin came from Jamaica on the first Windrush boat on June 21 1948. He was one of many who were asked to come to build up the country after WW2 and he worked on the buses after arriving in Tilbury docks in Essex," Samuels explained to reporters.

Having been impressed with his whirlwind start, Luke was invited to join the Jamaican team. Although he hasn't met any of his teammates face-to-face, he has attended AGM meetings and hopes to meet up with everyone in Canada for some practice sessions and friendly matches ahead of the qualifiers for the winter games.

For the team to make the cut for Italy, it must qualify, most of which are diaspora from North America and Jamaica. Luke says he was overjoyed that he is the first UK-Jamaican curler ever to represent the national team, and that this is a great honour for him.

“I always wanted to represent Jamaican sport, but I knew I was never going to be the next Usain Bolt running the 100 metres. I started looking into curling and found they had a team," Samuels disclosed.

Couple Found Dead in Abandoned Building in St. Catherine

The deaths of a Bendon district couple have left residents of the Kitson Town, St. Catherine community reeling following the discovery of their bodies in an abandoned building on Monday.

According to reports from the Jamaica Star, the deceased, 46-year-old Ruel Fuller and 39-year-old Georgia Blunt, went missing on Saturday. Blunt operated a water truck that supplied several communities in the West Central St. Catherine constituency.

After Blunt and Fuller left their home on Saturday to deliver water to a farm operated by the businesswoman, they did not return, and a search was launched by residents. The couple's water truck was located, and the search team followed a dog that was sniffing an abandoned building.

Fuller and Blunt's remains were discovered inside with their hands and feet bound. Both appeared to have been shot.

Michael Mendez, who was with the search team, told the Star that he was still shaken from the discovery, and other community members have since expressed their shock and the immense feeling of loss that has followed Blunt and Fuller's deaths. The couple were beloved members of the Bendon district. Blunt has been described as a community builder with a strong maternal instinct.

Theorising that the couple was killed because of theft, one resident, Michelle Small, lamented why the thieves could not have simply robbed the couple and left them alive.

Dr Christopher Tufton, Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, has called Blunt and Fuller's deaths a tragedy that will have adverse effects on the community as their water delivery service was vital. Dr Tufton said it would take a concerted effort between the residents and the police to solve the couple's murder.

7YO Girl Drops 4YO Boy Down A Well in China - Watch Video

CCTV footage is circulating the internet of a 7-year-old Chinese girl dropping a 4-year-old boy down a well in Yunnan's Songming County in China.

In the footage, the girl, identified by her surname Wang, lifts the boy, who is smaller than her, off the ground, carries him over the well, and drops him. The boy, identified as Yang, cries out in despair as he clings to the edge of the well. However, Wang pushes his hands off the edge of the well and watches as he plunges inside.

The report states that the well was around 5 meters deep, with about 2 meters of water. According to the Songming County police, the boy hit the water after falling a couple of meters. The boy, who was rescued by residents hearing his cries, caught a cold but had no major injuries.

The report also outlined that he and the girl were neighbours who frequently played together before the incident occurred on March 4 at 4:00 p.m. When the girl was asked why she did it, she said that she was imitating a TV show.

Footage of Deepest Fish Ever Recorded Underwater a Depth of 8,336 Meters - Watch Video

On Sunday, researchers from the University of Western Australia and Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology released footage taken by sea robots in deep trenches off Japan last September. The scientists also caught two additional specimens at 8,022 meters while filming the deepest snailfish, setting another catch record.

During a probe into the abyss of the northern Pacific Ocean, a young snailfish was discovered at a depth of 8,336 meters (over 27,000 feet) just above the seabed. Scientists had never been able to collect fish below 8,000 meters when the deepest snailfish ever spotted was at 7,703 meters in 2008.

The creature is an unknown snailfish species belonging to the genus Pseudoliparis according to researchers, which was recorded in the Izu-Ogasawara trench in the southeast of Japan.

In a decade-long exploration of the world's deepest fish populations, scientists from the Minderoo-University of Western Australia Deep Sea Research Centre and Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology explored the Japan, Izu-Ogasawara and Ryukyu trenches, which are 8,000, 9,300 and 7,300 metres deep, respectively.

Veteran Rastafarian deejay Fantan Mojah took to the internet to air his grievances with other Rasta entertainers, like Chronixx and Protoje, who want to "shub wi" out of the Reggae music culture.

"From wah day I hear a likke ting weh wah fix cuh, mi nuh like how dem try fi shub wi outta di Reggae music and dem know dem cyah dweet," the Rasta Got soul artiste stated. He then went on to big up those he thinks are genuine Reggae artistes like Turbulence, Richie spice, Natural Black, I Wayne, Etana, Lutan fyah, Sizzla Kalonji, Anthony B, and Queen Ifrica.

Continuing, he said, "More time some people try shub weh di real fire yute dem weh bun di real fire round yah...mi nuh know why dem try fi dweet. Now some man a come prove like dem a God bout...wi bring judgement innah music, unnuh cyah bring nuh judgement, unnuh likkle fire light."

He mentioned that the younger generation of reggae artistes have no respect for the entertainers who were carrying the baton before them and sent his respects to Richie Spice, Turbulence, and all the other reggae artistes who helped to build back the industry when it was struggling.

In the video, he voiced that he would soon be travelling to America and also hinted that he had something on the way by saying, "some people did tink say di ting did ah stop, no! Wi soon go fi dah likkle smn deh cuz it deh yah now."

Drake Samples Kim Kardashian Talking about Divorce from Kanye West in New Song - Listen

The Canadian rapper, Drake, has revealed an upcoming song, which surprisingly features a sample of Kim Kardashian's voice. The song, reportedly titled Rescue Me, was previewed on an episode of Sound 42's The Fry Yiy Show on SiriusXM Radio.

Kim Kardashian was heard talking about her divorce from Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, in the preview of the new song. "I didn't come this far just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that," Kim said.

Drake and Ye have feuded for over three years but ended their beef in November 2021. There is no telling if the sound bite from the 2021 series finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians will stir up new drama.

In the song, the God's Plan artiste raps about a woman rescuing him from his current life and settling down with her.

"I need someone to be patient with me, someone to get money, would not take it from me. They don't even need to be as famous as me... Come and rescue me," Drake raps in the track.

The release date for the track, produced by BNYXX, has not yet been announced.

Carjacker Smashes Multiple Vehicles While Trying To Escape - Watch Video

A female carjacker was arrested on Friday after crashing into multiple vehicles in California, USA, in an attempt to flee after robbing an elderly woman.

The chaotic incident was captured on video by an eyewitness who was on the scene at Ralphs shopping centre on Kanan Road in Agoura Hills, Los Angeles. According to reports, the woman, who is believed to be in her 20s, approached a 75-year-old shopper in the shopping centre's parking lot and attempted to steal her purse.

When the shopper resisted, a struggle ensued, and the assailant pulled the victim from her car and threw her to the ground. She proceeded to jump in the victim's car and attempted to make her escape with one of the car's doors left open. But the thief was reportedly thwarted by a Club anti-theft device on the steering wheel, which made it difficult for her to manoeuvre the vehicle.

However, this did not prevent the young woman from trying to flee. In the video, the woman can be seen repeatedly smashing into multiple vehicles in the parking lot while onlookers shout at her to get out of the vehicle. She eventually gave up her attempt to escape with the car and tried to flee on foot but was subdued by bystanders.

The owner of the car was treated on the scene for minor injuries, and the carjacker was taken to a hospital to be medically cleared before she was booked into jail.
